alas

So, I realize that I am not the best at updating blogs. I tend to get busy and lately, I am sad to say, I have been valuing my naps more than sharing my thoughts and life happenings with cyberspace. I think that may have been a win-win scenario.

So, did anybody figure out my clue about my sudden absence? Yes, I did get a job! FINALLY! It only took me 10 months after graduating to find a job, but I did. Believe it or not, I actually happened to get the one job that I applied for that I was least qualified for. Go figure. Why does it tend to happen like that, I have no idea. But it did. I am now employed as a Resource Specialist at PACE- which is a Center for Girls.

"Our Mission: PACE provides girls and young women an opportunity for a better future through education, counseling, training and advocacy.

Our Philosophy: PACE values all girls and young women, believing each one deserves an opportunity to find her voice, achieve her potential and celebrate a life defined by responsibility, dignity, serenity and grace."

PACE, Inc. is a community-based, gender-responsive prevention, diversion and early intervention program serving girls, ages 12-17, in 17 locations across the state. The program fulfills the Department of Juvenile Justice’s statutory requirement to provide prevention and gender-specific programming for girls.

It really is a great company doing a great thing for girls. I, essentially, am a non-teaching role. I administer tests to the girls, do some one-on-one tutoring, do a lot of computer data-entry, handle new students, intakes, and I gather and distribute alternate resources to the teachers for them to use to help with each student to learn. i.e. if a student is an auditory learner, I find learning resources in their grade range to give to the teacher to help that student learn more easily.

Nothing that I'm trained to do, but it works for me! :)

I'm LOVING the working days and having no nights and weekends. However, having to be at work by 7:30am leads me to want and love afternoon naps :) I thought I'd adjust to early rising after 2 weeks, but I have decided it may take me 3...4...or more.

anyways, for fear of overwhelming anyone- I shall cut this post short and update more later about the OTHER huge event that had taken up a lot of time and kept me from posting.

Hint: it's pretty much the closest "big" thing next to getting a new full-time job.
